Border Patrol, 2014, Installation, Silberkuppe, Berlin.
This piece started as a writing commission for an art publication. After failing at describing the appearance of a border patrol car in the Texan landscape, I asked painter Leidy Churchman to make a painting of what I described. In return, a year later, Leidy invited me to make a work for the show “New Dawn” at Silberkuppe responding to the mentioned painting. I created a still life of a green laser light situated with a vase, Emailed directions to the gallery directed , a blackout to occur in the exhibition space at specified intervals during the day, activating the light to draw a thin green line across the space, and shutting down the viewing capacity on the rest of the works.
